Setting the Table for Success
It’s no secret I am inspired by creative, entrepreneurial, and evolving women! I feel lucky to be surrounded by so many smart, talented people (who often happen to be female) — and am always awakened in new ways by the wisdom shared. Liz Curtis, founder of Table + Teaspoon, is one of those motivational women. I felt an instant connection after meeting her about five years ago, and although I am a teensy-tiny bit older, we share some similarities: local girls, Cal grads, event planners, design aficionados, blondes. (Yep, all the important stuff!)
Liz is a lawyer-turned-blogger, a woman who embraced her passion for creating, designing, and cooking beautiful things, and redefined the word multitask as she practiced law by day, and practiced her passion by night (and weekend!) — featuring her luxe menus and always innovative tablescapes on her blog: Table + Teaspoon. I have loved following her journey, and found inspiration as she changed course to follow her bliss…encouraging me by example to put myself ‘out there’ with my own blog!
And here is where the magic happens: through her dedication to blogging, and confidence in her connection to an audience, she turned her passion into a business. Table + Teaspoon has grown from blog to brilliant business, and I was so proud of Liz when I attended the opening of her innovative new showroom last week! This ingenious online ‘rent the table’ concept is the perfect collaboration of Liz’s two selves: practical lawyer and creative entertainer! Table + Teaspoon promises to make entertaining easy, as they deliver the perfect table for your special occasion: you choose from a selection of chic packages, including everything from linens and stemware to candlesticks and menu cards (my favorite is the ‘Jane’!), and all you need to set a gorgeous table is delivered literally to your door. And the next day, everything is picked up: no muss, no fuss, no dishes to wash! I love this original idea, and hope it leads to more people celebrating, talking, laughing, and gathering around tables — thank you Liz, for serving up the inspiration!
