Bookmarked: Love Warrior

Sometimes when a book has been so hyped, (hello, Oprah!) reviewed, and discussed, I worry that when I finally get around to reading it, I could be disappointed…but that is not the case with Glennon Doyle Melton’s Love Warrior. The founder of Momastery, and already a bestselling author, Glennon started as a blogger (and I love that). By bravely reaching out through her words to express both the good and bad of her life in a very vulnerable way, she has connected with millions of women, and created an online community filled with “truth tellers and hope spreaders”. Her latest book is filled with heartbreak, inspiration, courage, and brutal honesty. I think there are parts of her story that will resonate with any woman — even if the reader doesn’t have much in common with the author. It is a powerful memoir that I’ve heard called a ‘self-help’ book and I can see why. It is humorous, horrifying and touching, and sometimes uncomfortable and very thought provoking. Glennon tells such a personal story, filled with emotional connections for readers searching for grace and presence. (Spoiler alert: if you haven’t followed all the press on Glennon and Love Warrior, be sure to check out her website after you finish the book!“We know what the world wants from us. We know we must decide whether to stay small, quiet, and uncomplicated or allow ourselves to grow as big, loud, and complex as we were made to be. Every girl must decide whether to be true to herself or true to the world. Every girl must decide whether to settle for adoration or fight for love.”
